A Career Built on a Question a Textbook Never Answered

A professional headshot of a man in his forties with short brunette hair and a beard. He is wearing a teal blue polo shirt and has a warm, attentive expression.

For over 25 years, I have dedicated my life to the art and science of massage therapy. My journey began at the renowned Utah College of Massage Therapy, where I was immersed in a rich curriculum spanning everything from clinical, Western modalities to the holistic principles of Eastern bodywork. We learned, in intricate detail, how to care for our clients.

But there was a critical question our education barely touched upon: How do we care for ourselves?

I remember a professional development textbook we were given but never once opened. The full extent of our training for career longevity was a simple, passing phrase: "You should take care of yourself."

It wasn't long before I learned firsthand how insufficient that advice was. The physical demands of the work began to take their toll, and I found myself in pain. I had done everything my instructors taught me—and my body was breaking down anyway. I realized that the standard education had prepared me to be a great therapist, but not for a long and sustainable career as one.

This realization became the true starting point of my education. Not the one I paid for—the one I had to build myself. And once I understood what was missing, I couldn't unsee it in every therapist I met.

True mastery in this field isn't just healing others—it's building a practice that sustains you, too.

If you're reading this in pain, wondering how much longer you can do this work—I wrote this for you. Not to sell you hope, but to share what actually worked.

My Mission with OnPointCE

This is why I created OnPoint Continuing Education. I know that some CE courses can feel redundant or uninteresting—a box to be checked. My first promise to you is to make those necessary requirements as painless and efficient as possible.

But my real mission is to share the vital lessons that I had to learn the hard way. It's to fill the gap left by our formal training and to share the strategies that have allowed me to have a successful, pain-free, multi-decade career. It’s about sharing what actually works, both for your clients and for you.

My own wellness is rooted in a blend of Qi Gong, yoga, calisthenics, and resistance training. These practices aren't just hobbies; they are the tools that have enabled me to continue providing high-level therapy year after year.

When I'm not focused on bodywork or education, you can find me hiking, cooking for my wife, or tending to my small collection of bonsai and orchids—a practice in patience and nurturing that mirrors the dedication required for a long and fruitful career.

I built this for you, my fellow professional.

I look forward to helping you not only meet your compliance needs but also build a career that is as long-lasting as it is fulfilling.
